Using same Web Adaptor name

$

Hi,
I am upgrading from 10.1 to 10.2.1. I used the default arcgis for the web adaptor name. (That way I didn't have to change my flex viewer layer's URL to each web service.)
When I uninstall the web adaptor from the enterprise web server, will that delete the Virtual Directory to arcgis? Or do I have to go in web server software, after the uninstall, and remove the virtual directory name for arcgis?
See Migration Checklist information on the Web Adaptor
http://resources.arcgis.com/en/help/...001w000000.htm
If your ArcGIS Server instance used the default name of arcgis and you want to maintain this in your upgraded site using the Web Adaptor, you need to do some preparatory work before you run the Web Adaptor setup. Using your web server software, remove the virtual directory named arcgis. Then delete the folder on disk that was holding the files for the ArcGIS Server instance, for example, C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\arcgis. (You may want to create a backup before you do this.) Finally, install the Web Adaptor and run the Web Adaptor configuration page.
Or was this just for folks prior to 10.1?
Thanks for any help!

10.2 Web adaptor not fulling working from internet

I have installed arcgis server 10.2 and the web adaptor on to iis in windows 2008r2. Everything works great on my university network.

But when I try to check the services directory from home the services don't open. http://mgs.geology.wmich.edu/arcgis/rest works fine but if you go deeper i.e. http://mgs.geology.wmich.edu/arcgis/...ties/MapServer The page fails to load on the internet where it works fine on the internal network.

I have the server open to the web through the university firewall, I've tried reinstalling arcgis server and the web adaptor. I can't seem to figure out what the problem is.

Please help.

Problem while exporting map using geoprocessing service

We have a published a geoprocessing service for exporting map to PDF using the python script as follows

import arcpy
mxd = arcpy.mapping.MapDocument(r"D:\roy\Project2.mxd")
arcpy.mapping.ExportToPDF(mxd, r"D:\roy\Output\Project.pdf")
del mxd

The problem we are facing is that the python script works fine when we run from desktop. The ouput is attached in project2.pdf. But when we use the geoprocessing service the legend items get distorted as can be seen in project1.pdf.

The legend is a custom legend generated using picture marker symbols to show only layers those are within extent.

Any help is highly appreciated.

When trying to install Server 10.2 on my desktop for testing, it gives me this message.

"ArcGIS 10.2 for Server cannot be installed until the following products are upgraded to 10.2 or uninstalled."

This it lists nothing.
Any ideas to find out what products it is unhappy with?

I have 10.2.1 desktop and 10.2 mobile installed on the computer also.

Thanks

Migrating 10.0 to 10.2.2 on a new machine - Licensing

The documentation for upgrading ArcGIS Server from 10.0 states:

The easiest way to migrate from version 10.0 of ArcGIS Server is to install 10.2.2 on a new machine or set of machines. This allows you to go back and reference your existing applications and service properties while you are creating your new ArcGIS Server site.

It sounds like we can run our ArcGIS Server 10.0 and 10.2.2 at the same time. I noticed that we do have an available 10.2 license at customers.esri.com but was wondering how long we can run both the existing 10 and a new 10.2.2 as we migrate and then test our install.

Has anyone migrated their ArcGIS Server from 10.0 to 10.2 on a new machine? And if so, where you able to use the two licenses (10.0 & 10.2) concurrently, and for how long?

Thanks,

Mele

The browser is redirected to the same url after clicking "soap" link on the "myserver/arcgis/rest/services" page.
The same link on the ESRI's server is working ok: http://services.arcgisonline.com/arcgis/services?wsdl

What should I install or configure to repaire this issue?

Thanks.

P.S. I have Arcgis Server 10.1 for Windows.

Got error when registered a DB2 database

Our server is 64-bits windows 2008 R2 Enterprise. The DB2 installed was 64-bits which includes client with both 64 and 32 bits drivers. We installed ArcGIS server and ArcGIS Desktop 10.2.1. We have enabled geodatabase successfully. Then we were trying to register database using ArcCatalog or ArcGIS server. There is no problem in the database connection from ArcCatalog (using configured ODBC either from 32-bit or 64-bit ODBC configuration). But when we tried to use that connection sde file or input manually, we got error as below.
The connection property set was missing a required property or the property value was unrecognized. Underlying DBMS error[Unknown errorNo extended error.] DataValidator.GPServer

Could anybody help to identify the reason why this failed? Thanks!

This is on Linux CentOS. The upgrade seems to hang on:
Uninstalling previous version...
Installing upgrade...

All my existing Services seem to run fine and I can get to the REST endpoint and Manager. But, the system Services won't run and I can't start new Services. Also, I get the following error when trying to stop, and then start the AGS software:

ArcGIS Server Manager 10.2.1 only opens on server

After successful migration of ArcGIS Server from 10 to 10.2.1 and configured Web Adapter, I can open Server Manager and the Rest services on the Server and connect to the Server from the Arc Catalog on the server. Unfortunately, none of them open/connect from my laptop. I have asked the system admin to open port 6080. Is there anything else? Thanks.

Windows Server 2012 R2 .NET Framework 3.5.1 Installation Problems Due to WSUS

$

I just wanted to post what I learned from trying to install the .NET Framework 3.5.1 on Windows Server 2012 R2. Apparently, Windows Server 2012 and Windows 8 use a concept called Features on Demand, where the source files for Windows features are not installed on the machine by default. Thus, you either have to use Windows Update, or provide a WIM image file or a side-by-side (SxS) store.

Following most help on the web, I tried to use the Add Roles and Features Wizard and specify a source file location pointing to a copy of the sources/sxs folder in the installation media. I still continued to get errors, even when using DISM and following various troubleshooting procedures. It appears that having a Windows Server Update Service (WSUS) configured was causing the problem. Once I made the connection, I was able to find the following articles. The second article helps explain the concepts very well.

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2734782
http://blogs.technet.com/b/askcore/a...ework-3-5.aspx

By configuring the group policy setting Specify settings for optional component installation and component repair, I was able to install the .NET Framework 3.5.1 through the Add Roles and Features Wizard using both Windows Update or my sources/sxs folder from the installation media.

So, if your system administrator uses WSUS to manage the updates installed on your server, try reading the links above if you can't get .NET Framework 3.5.1 or other Windows features installed.

ArcGIS Server 10.2 Cluster Installation

Hi guys,

I am trying install an ArcGIS Server 10.2 in cluster mode.

For that, in the installation wizard I use domain account (domain\user), but I received the message: 80070035 - The network path cannot be found

This domain account works fine, I can login in the machine, and I can access shared resources, only the ArcGIS Server Installation wizard fail.

I installed ArcGIS Server clusters in others domains, and no problems.

Any idea?

Thank you.

Unable to install ArcGIS Web Adaptor (SII)

$

Tried 10.1 and 10.2, the same issue:

My OS is Windows Server 2012. ArcGIS for Server has been well installed. When I proceed to install Web Adaptor, it comes the
error:

"Error 2878. On the dialog WebSite List the control ListBox1 has a possible value: xxx, 80, 2. This is an invalid or duplicate value." where xxx is a HTTP website on this server.

Checked posts about this issues, I got two suggestions:
1) Change the binding of the existing site to a different number, say 8080. However, the number in the error changes as well, to 8080. I've also tried to stop the existing site or delete the entire banding. But nothing works.

2) Install from command line. I've got another error:
"Error 1606. Could not access network location \arcgis"
When I change the parameter VDIRNAME to something else, the error remains and the directory in the error changes too.

Anyone can help me on this?

Multiple Web Adapter Installlation

$

I've looked through the installation documents and there isn't a whole lot on this. I'm curious as to how this works. We are installing on Server 2012, ArcGIS Server version 10.2.2, with dual web adapters for redundancy. I have the web adapters installed on separate servers and pointed to the Site I created.

So from what I understand, we are pointing our external access to our first web adaptor, say arcgis1. Since I have added say arcgis2 web adaptor, how does the software know if arcgis1 is down and to redirect to arcgis2. Are there additional steps that need to be taken to ensure this happens.

Also if their is a load balancer installed between arcgis1 and arcgis2, will it still redirect to the other server if one of them goes down?

Or is it the "don't worry about how it works..it just does" type of thing?

Thanks!

SSL help where to start

I am confused. I have Arc GIS Server 10.2 installed on an application server and I have the web adaptor installed on my webserver. I would like to implement security and I requested a certificate for my webserver machine and it is in place. But I look at this document http://resources.arcgis.com/en/help/...000005q0000000
and I am clueless as to what I need to do on which machine. Should I have requested a certificate for my application server? Not sure. Can someone help and tell me which machine I need to do what on in the above referenced help? I already have a certificate for my webserver.
Any guidance is appreciated.

Thanks,
Jennifer

Installation Order

Hello,

We are planning out our migration to 10.2.2 from 10.0 SP5. We have decided to upgrade all 120 installations of Desktop first, then tackle Server and the database. My question is, which order should we handle the installation? Desktop, Server, then the Database (SQL) OR Desktop, Database, then Server?

I guess the underlying issue is whether or not ArcGIS Server 10.0 SP5 can serve data that has been upgraded to 10.2.2.

Thanks for the advice!
